Kozyndan, L.A.-based husband and wife team Kozue and Dan Kitchens, have a prolific work history in illustration and fine art. Kozyndan’s “The Stormy Sea” is a beautiful addition to our iPad case artist series. Describing Kozyndan, Outré Gallery writes “ Expect the unexpected with a trip to a watery, oceanic paradise. There will be waves! There will be mystery! And there will be surprises!” Seascapes feature heavily in their work, along with absurdist urban scenes, playful self likenesses, and oneiric creatures.
The pair’s solo shows include Their Bones Are Coral Made at Bold Hype Gallery in New York City, Washed Away at Outré Gallery in Melbourne, Sydney, and Perth, And Then There Were None at Nelly Duff Gallery in London, and The Unknown Portraits at Narwhal Art Projects in Toronto, among others. The two-artist team has also participated in several group shows, and their illustrations and designs have been widely used for clothing (a Spring 2009 Puma line), album art (The Postal Service, Daedalus, Weezer), ad and editorial work, jewelry and posters, and other fascinations. Explore the Nautically inclined world of Kozyndan on their website.
"Obsessed with the ocean and being underwater and hope to someday come to rest at the bottom of the sea and slowly be devoured by deep creatures over many years."
